AC Shadows Introduces Unexpected AoT Event for Holiday Season
In a unexpected collaboration that breaks conventional expectations, Ubisoft has revealed an in-game collaboration between Assassin's Creed Shadows and the acclaimed anime series Attack on Titan. The unexpected holiday event runs from November 25 through December 22, including free bonus story content for Shadows players.
Peculiar Adventure Revealed
According to the authorized announcement, "A strange encounter leads protagonists Naoe and Yasuke into a original mission, where hints of prohibited ceremonies and fearsome changes resonate through the darkness." The narrative features a "oddly garbed woman named Ada" who assigns the characters with journeying into the Crystalline Cavern—a important location from Attack on Titan—to liberate her ally from a clandestine sect.
The adventure focuses on "peculiar trials and a terrifying foe" and is open to all players who have unlocked the Yasuke character.
Familiar Places and Changes
The preview highlights the Underground Chapel from Attack on Titan recreated as the Crystal Cave. This important location was previously where the Reiss royal family transmitted the Founding Titan ability through ages. The preview concludes with a powerful scene showing a character, likely the captive, transforming into a Titan that towers over Naoe and Yasuke.
Unique Prizes and Additional Material
Players who successfully complete the mission will acquire an unique katana alongside numerous items secreted throughout the area in hidden chests. The update also contains premium Attack on Titan item packs, featuring:
- Titan-inspired attire for Yasuke
- Mikasa outfit for Naoe
- Special arms
- Survey Corps steed
Third Free Story Content
This patch also introduces the game's third free story episode, titled "The Mystery." This playful adventure partners Naoe and Yasuke as they exchange distinctive abilities: Naoe debuts a dramatic version of Yasuke's war kick, while Yasuke acquires subduing stealth takedowns. True to its name, "The Mystery" also contains a new environmental puzzle that may ultimately shed light on some lingering questions from the main storyline.

This marks not the initial time the Assassin's Creed franchise has collaborated with famous anime properties. The series previously showcased a 2020 collaborative story connecting Assassin's Creed: Valhalla with Makoto Yukimura's Vinland Saga. Furthermore, Valhalla informally included a quest that unmistakably echoed the popular series One-Punch Man.
